Parks-Romick Family Tree

An apology to my Grandparents

When Grandparents talk, my advice is to listen.  As a child, when My Grandpa Parks and Grandma Sally would tell  stories of their ancestors, I would dive for the nearest door.  Oh if only I had sat down and listened to their stories of our ancestors.  When your Grandparents start telling outrageous stories of past glories of their ancestors, do not assume that they are making it up to entertain.  You may end up as surprised as I was to learn that all they were doing was telling you as much as they could remember about their family.  Probably, because as children they also dived for the nearest door, some of it mixed with fable but most of it well worth the knowing.

William and Mary Brewster...the Mayflower Immigrants...through the Collins line

Diana finally was able to link the independent traces of "Thedy Crocker" in the Collins Latter Day Saints (LDS) line, and "Theoda Crocker," also the LDS database...which open up the Collins line back to the Mayflower.

We've put a little extra in for William and Mary Brewster as Mayflower immigrants...parents of Johnathon Brewster.  We've leveraged LDS data, with links to MayflowerHistory.com, and Wikipedia writeup and passenger list of the Mayflower.  We've alos traced the path with notes in MS Windows Live Local Maps...tracing the Mayflower Voyage from Delfthaven, Holland to Provincetown Harbor, across the bay from Plymouth where they finally founded their settlement.

The family then seems to have migrated from Plymouth to the Norwich, Connecticut area on the Long Island Sound.

The Romich's, Romicks, Romigs of Pennsylvania

The Romick's came from Germany through Philadelphia to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania...the Pennsylvania Dutch.  The Romicks then migrated to Kansas...finally to Maple Hill, Kansas, a Scottish community, where Grandma Oliver, a Scot, married Henry Steele Romick, a German.

Romick Tree...Diana made contact with David E. McClelland who had been researching the McClelland and Romick branches..."the whole 9 yards" as Diana says.  Link to David's FamilyTreeMaker site.  Bernie's Romick family line formerly held the record with 9 generations to Georg Romich in Germany
